BOURNEMOUTH'S Geva Mentor and Lymington's Mia Ritchie have been named in England Netball's long squad for the Commonwealth Games.

The duo will take part in training camps over the coming weeks before the squad is whittled down from 18 players to 12 next month.

England open their Glasgow 2014 campaign against Wales on Friday, July 25 and will subsequently face Australia, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados in Pool B.

A captain for Anna Mayes' side is yet to be named.

A former pupil at St Peter's Catholic Comprehensive School, Mentor won Commonwealth bronze with England in 2006 and 2010, while she featured in the team that came fourth in Manchester in 2002.

The 29-year-old, who can play goal keeper or goal defence, has also turned out in three World Netball Championships, earning bronze in 2011 in Singapore.

She is currently plying her trade at Melbourne Vixens, where she recently became the first import to reach 100 games in the ANZ Championship, a competition contested by teams from Australia and New Zealand.

Centre Ritchie was part of the Team Bath side that finished third in the ZEO Netball Superleague in 2014 behind Surrey Storm and Manchester Thunder.

The 24-year-old is a relative newcomer to the England setup and at 5ft 5in, is one of the smallest players ever to have represented her country.

An ex-student at the University of Bath, Ritchie captained that team to the British Universities & Colleges Sports (BUCS) title in March 2012 and made her England debut against Barbados less than a month later.

She triumphed with Great Britain at the inaugural World University Championship in South Africa that same year and in 2013 helped Team Bath win a fifth Superleague title.
