DISAPPOINTED team boss Neil Middleditch admitted that track officials had made the right decision after Poole Pirates’ Elite League showdown at Leicester was called off this afternoon.
The best efforts of the Lions' track staff – which included promoter David Hemsley – were in vain as rain continually fell at the Beaumont Sports Complex.
Match referee Phil Griffin delayed the start by 30 minutes to try and get the meeting on but the wet weather refused to abate.
Middleditch told the Daily Echo: “The rain was constant and showed no signs of stopping.
"Leicester worked very hard on the track but visibility would have been a problem and, unfortunately, you just couldn’t race in the conditions."
