DAN Gosling will complete a permanent move to Dean Court once Newcastle have given him the green light to sign – the player’s agent tonight confirmed to the Daily Echo.

Midfielder Gosling has been high on Cherries boss Eddie Howe’s wish-list and his representative David Hodgson held preliminary talks with the Dorset club in January.

The 24-year-old, who is available on a free transfer, has been attracting interest from several clubs but apparently has his heart set on joining Cherries after being tempted with a four-year deal.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Echo, former Liverpool striker Hodgson, who acts for Gosling, said: “We have had discussions. There are still some small hurdles to overcome but, as far as we are concerned, once Newcastle have given Bournemouth the nod, it is a foregone conclusion that the only club Dan will be joining is Bournemouth.

“Right now, nothing in the world is going to change Dan’s mind because Eddie Howe, Jason Tindall and David Webb, the three prominent people I have been in conversation with for the past five months, have been top-drawer.”

Gosling, who progressed through the ranks at Plymouth, has been restricted to just five Premier League starts and 19 appearances from the bench at Newcastle.

He was handed his Football League debut as a 16-year-old by then-Pilgrims boss Ian Holloway in Argyle’s 1-0 win over Hull in the Championship in December 2006.

Devon-born Gosling, capped by England at under-17, 18, 19 and 21 level, was signed by David Moyes in a deal worth around £1.2 million to Plymouth in January 2008.

He signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Everton, featuring in their 2-1 defeat by Chelsea in the FA Cup final in May 2009 and making 22 Premier League appearances for the Toffees.

However, his career suffered a major setback when he spent nine months on the sidelines after rupturing his cruciate ligament towards the end of his stay at Goodison Park.

He was allowed to move to St James’s Park on a free after Everton had failed to give him a written contract offer before his previous deal had expired.

Gosling played 14 games during a loan spell at Blackpool between October and January before he was recalled by Newcastle after Yohan Cabaye had been sold to Paris St-Germain.

His move to Dean Court would be subject to him passing a medical. The Daily Echo has been unable to contact any Cherries officials for comment.
