POOLE’S Emily Clarke hit the form of her life to win gold, silver and triple bronze at the South West Youth Championships in Plymouth.

She also recorded seven personal best times as she led a Poole tally of 13 medals and eight additional national qualifying times (NQTs).

She topped her star role with gold in the 16yrs 200m backstroke in a long-course time of 2:21.94 and silver in the 800m freestyle in 9:22.07.

Her trio of bronze medals came in the 50 and 100m backstroke in 32.03 and 1:07.73 and the 200m freestyle in 2:16.85.

Team-mate Jaz Holmes won silver in the 15yrs 200m freestyle in a club record time of 2:09.30 and bronze in the 800m in 9:48.34.

Madison Kemp, also 15, swam 16 heats and finals during a busy three days and won bronze in three of them – the 50m butterfly and breaststroke (29.55 and 35.13) and 200m individual medley (IM) in 2:29.42.

Inez Griffin, 16, knocked 2.6 seconds off her PB to reach the 200m breaststroke final second quickest in 2:42.44, then claimed bronze in 2:45.88.

She also made the 50 and 100m breaststroke finals, finishing fourth in both.

Noah Vides also made all three 17/o breaststroke finals, winning bronze in the 50m in 30.26 and coming fourth in the 100 and sixth in the 200m.

Todd Price made the finals of all five of his events and added a 10th bronze to the Poole collection with a time of 2:10.61 in the 17/o 200m butterfly (2:10.61).

Swim Bournemouth’s Jack Simpkins, Jordan Young and Jamie Gray all made the podium.

Simpkins smashed his PB to take silver in the 16yrs 200m IM in 2:18.21.

Silver also went to Young as he lowered his PB to 17:36.47 in the 1500m freestyle.

Gray added a bronze in the 200m backstroke.

Both Poole and Swim Bournemouth are hoping to qualify relay teams for the nationals after several top eight places in competitive South West finals.

Emma Garland was Seagulls’ most successful swimmer, reached the 16yrs 100m backstroke final and came eighth.
