WILLIAM Fox-Pitt will continue his quest to win eventing’s most lucrative prize – the Grand Slam – when he begins his Badminton Horse Trials campaign in the dressage today.

The Sturminster Newton-based eventer is among the favourites to triumph at the Duke of Beaufort’s estate having won the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event aboard Bay My Hero a week and a half ago.

Currently leading the FEI Classics Series, Fox- Pitt could extend that advantage by the time Badminton concludes on Sunday, but he is likely to face strong competition from the likes of New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson.

Fox-Pitt will use mounts Chilli Morning and Cool Mountain as he continues his Grand Slam chase.

Were the 45-year-old to triumph, he would need to win at Burghley in September to complete the set and secure £208,600.
