VICTORIOUS Grange Athletic landed a league and cup double with a 4-1 success over top-flight rivals Hordle Spurs at Ferndown.

Aidan Shepherd opened the scoring for the champions before Elliot Anderson set up Kian Watson to level the scores with a left-foot shot in an evenly-contested first half.

Grange, however, stepped up a gear after the break, with further goals from Patrick Rogerson, Sam Heselden and Jayden Taylor.

Triumphant manager Darren Shepherd was delighted with his side’s performance, while paying tribute to their plucky opponents.

“Hordle certainly made a game of it, especially when they drew level,” said Shepherd.

“We played our usual passing game and managed to get a grip of the match in the second half, but Hordle never gave up.

“Our boys have done themselves proud this season.”

Spurs were without their first choice goalkeepers, with defender Cameron Piner donning the gloves.

“Most of the team were playing in unfamiliar positions due to injuries and we only had the bare 11 players,” explained Spurs manager Tony O’Brien.

“I am, however, very proud of all them as they gave their all and were exhausted at the final whistle.”

Hordle Spurs under-13s: Cameron Piner, Alex Wright, Sam O’Brien, Will Sims, Josh McMenamin, James Fitzgerald, Ollie Stockwell, Kian Watson, Lewis Taylor, Samuel White, Elliot Anderson.

Grange Athletic under-13s: James Mayo, Max Manning, Bayley Smith, Levi Collings, Thomas Stone, Sam Heselden, Oliver Osborne, Patrick Rogerson, Jayden Taylor, Aidan Shepherd, Daniel Tourh, Rowan Ford.
