DORSET Dockers completed their perfect season on Saturday with an 81-5 trouncing of North Dorset III.

The Verwood-based club, newly-formed at the start of the season, won all 20 games of their Dorset & Wilts Two South matches with bonus points.

Their latest comfortable success brought to 1,110 their points tally, while they only conceded 81 in what has been an imperious season for Tim Flower’s men.

Dockers’ highlight came in March when the runaway league winners registered an all-time British rugby record victory in competitive rugby, a 212-0 triumph over Dorchester II.

And Flower, head coach and one of the club’s founders, admits the season had surpassed anyone’s expectations.

He said: “At first we didn’t know what players we would have. We knew we had a solid core of eight or nine but the lads that have come in have brought in a great mentality and it has worked out phenomenally well.

“Our club is very much run by the players, playing for the enjoyment of the game and they have bought into this whole idea with great attitude.”

However, despite such a remarkable season, the club’s future is not completely guaranteed as they were placed in Dorset & Wilts Two South as a probation team.

The league’s organisers now have to decide whether they will be allowed to continue but Flower remains confident over the future.

Flower added: “Once the team’s future is secured we can focus on producing more players as we go up to the next league.

“We will then aim for promotion again, which we have a great chance of doing, and then get the second team winning a league.”
