UNSTOPPABLE Christchurch clinched promotion to the top flight with a perfect record in the Bournemouth YFL under-14 second tier.

The Priory youngsters finished off the season in style with a 4-0 win over a plucky Poole Town FC Wessex at Chapel Gate.

Christchurch won all 14 of their league fixtures, scoring 79 and conceding just eight, to finish 15 points ahead of runners-up Kings Park Dynamo.

Joshua Charalambous opened the scoring on Sunday with a neat finish to calm the leaders’ nerves before Joseph Berry connected with a towering header to make it 2-0.

Samuel Drake added Christchurch’s third, while Harry Sawyer slipped the ball past the advancing keeper to break Poole’s resistance.

Delighted Christchurch boss James Boobier said: “This has been a special season for the boys whose attitude and commitment has been top drawer. I can’t praise them enough.

“A special mention should also go to my coaches Adrian and Josh who have got the boys to reach their full potential.”

Rival boss Mannix Fu, meanwhile, was encouraged by his team’s battling qualities.

“We put up a good fight and persisted with our passing game,” Fu told the Daily Echo. “We had quite a few chances but couldn’t convert any of them.

“Our boys should be proud of their performance as we did not give up and fought hard until the last second of the game.”
