BRANKSOME United under-16s will be looking to bounce back from their 3-2 Dorset Cup final defeat to Lyme Regis in next week’s Bournemouth League final.

The unlucky losers, who lost 1-0 to Corfe Mullen in last year’s corresponding fixture, suffered further heartache in extra-time against Dorset high-fliers Lyme Regis on Sunday.

Brandon Randall and Sam Darlow had given United the lead before goals from Richard Legg and Joseph Wotton levelled for their unbeaten opponents.

Lyme Regis lifted the cup thanks to Rhys Hayter’s goal.

“We lacked a little discipline and got beaten by the better side on the day,” admitted Branksome boss Peter Hughes.

Branksome return to Fern-down on Sunday, April 6 for their town final date against BYFL rivals Bournemouth Sports.

“We’ve beaten Sports in the league already this year and play them again on Sunday before the final,” added Hughes.
