MEMBERS of Bashley tonight voted in favour of folding the club should talks with an interested consortium prove fruitless.

Twenty out of the club's 38 members attended the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) with 18 voting in favour of the proposal to dissolve the New Forest outfit and two abstentions.

However, chairman Mike Cranidge has revealed "positive negotiations" with a group of people over a prospective takeover are ongoing.

According to the Bash chief, the consortium have worked together at an unnamed non-league club before and would come in as a collective should they strike a deal.

Cranidge told the Daily Echo: "We now have permission to close the club if we are not successful in our negotiations but we hope talks with this interested party bear fruit.

"I am glad to say there is a strong possibility the club can be saved. There is a lot of interest in helping the club to function as a business and from potential sponsors."
