STRIKER Jordan Chiedozie believes firing Poole Town to promotion can help him to realise his own dream – a return to the professional game.

The 19-year-old frontrunner, formerly on loan with the Dolphins, was released by Cherries on Friday before immediately signing non-contract terms with the Southern League outfit.

But despite his disappointment, Chiedozie reckons showcasing his talent at Tatnam can provide the platform for a successful summer hunting for a deal in the Football League.

On his Cherries departure, Chiedozie told the Daily Echo: “I was told I wasn’t in the club’s plans and to be honest it was better it happened now rather than the end of the season because it gave me the opportunity to play for Poole.

“I get on well with Tom (Killick, Poole manager) and with the amount of games I can get in I know it is a good place to show what I can do.

“My main aim at the moment is to try and help get Poole promoted, after that I will see what’s out there. I believe I can get a club in the Football League.”

Chiedozie forms part of the Poole squad for tomorrow’s trip to league leaders Hemel Hempstead Town.

Elsewhere, Bournemouth Poppies travel to Fawley in the Wessex League Premier Division (both 7.45).

Dolphins: (from) Thomas, Emmerson, Spetch, Dibba, Whisken, Martin, Brooks, Devlin, Pettefer, Davies, Preston, Bennett, Cann, Chiedozie, Charles, Elliott, Hutchings.

Poppies: Vaughan, Martinez, Jackson, Costello, Ingram, Burgis, Owens, Phillips, Rowley, Ward, Warren, Bassiriki, Pekun, Saadi.

  • Poole Town’s Dorset Senior Cup semi-final at Gillingham Town, originally set for tonight, will now be played at Hamworthy United’s County Ground on Thursday (7.45).

Christchurch have received a bye to the Russell-Cotes Cup semi-finals after scheduled last-eight opponents Gosport Borough withdrew from the competition.

Priory will now host Wessex League rivals Fareham Town for a place in the final on Wednesday, March 12.

Wimborne’s scheduled league match at Tiverton tonight has been postponed.
