CHERRIES striker Tokelo Rantie insists he will “take it a step at a time” as he continues to try to settle in England – both on and off the pitch.

Rantie admits he is still coming to terms with the English game and way of life following his big-money move from Swedish club Malmo in August.

The 23-year-old mixes with a small circle of friends which includes team-mates Mohamed Coulibaly and Stephane Zubar, whose proposed move to Bury last year was wrecked by a long-term knee injury.

Rantie, who was raised in the remote town of Parys in the Free State and said the transition had not been easy, spends his downtime cooking, on PlayStation and going to the cinema.

He told the Daily Echo: “I live a simple life so I am not in a position where I feel that I am not enjoying myself because I have people around me and I have friends. The most important thing is that I am focusing on what is good for my life in general.

“I am not an outgoing person or a person who demands a lot of things from everyone else. I prefer to be in a space where there are certain people and I can’t complain about anything right now.

“I just need to get to know more of my team-mates in terms of me trying to go to their places and them coming to mine. Maybe they could help me with other things I haven’t seen. I think I am getting there and I will just take it a step at a time.”
