STEVE Bendall is seeking an alternative venue for his forthcoming professional boxing show after announcing it will no longer take place at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC).

Veteran Bendall had been scheduled to top a seven-bout bill on Saturday, March 15 at the BIC with undefeated Ferndown fighter Iain Weaver on the undercard.

However, the World Boxing Union Middleweight champion remains confident the event will still take place in Dorset and anticipates making an announcement on a new date over the next week.

Bendall told the Daily Echo: “As I understand it there was a breakdown between the promoter and the BIC so we have had to move it to a different venue.

“We have held positive talks about holding the event elsewhere and hope to get a date in April firmed up pretty quickly.

“It is a shame but it's not the end of the line for us with the BIC and we hope to work with them at some point in the future.”

Meanwhile, Bournemouth-based professional Jake Gosling is set to fight at the Guildhall, Southampton on Saturday, March 22. Mudeford siblings Tommy and Shane Watson will also feature.
