STEVE Cuss reckons Wimborne Town can take advantage of Tiverton Town’s open style and make up ground on the play-off pack tonight.

Magpies will be hoping to close the 10-point gap to Tivvy, who currently occupy the final play-off berth in Southern South & West, by upsetting their high-flying hosts at Ladysmead (7.45).

Cuthbury boss Cuss told the Daily Echo: “I have seen Tiverton a couple of times this season and I like how they play. They play an open game like we do.

“Sometimes, that suits us a bit more than facing a physical side and with how strong we have been defensively of late, we have every reason to be confident.”

Cuss confirmed Adam Costello would be in contention after missing Saturday’s defeat at Mangotsfield, while he hoped striker Mark Gamble would recover from a bout of illness in time to be involved.

  • Poole Town are scheduled to play the first of two away games in two days at Gillingham Town in the semi-final of the Dorset Senior Cup tonight (7.45).

Dolphins, who were due to host league leaders Hemel Hempstead Town tomorrow, will now play the Southern League Premier Division clash at the Tudors’ Vauxhall Road ground with the Tatnam pitch still heavy in one corner.

Poole will now host Hemel on Saturday, March 22, the original date for the away fixture.

  • Elsewhere, Bashley face a basement battle with AFC Totton, while in the Wessex Premier, Hamworthy United host Christchurch and Verwood Town travel to Fareham Town (all 7.45).
