TOM Killick has warned any further loss of home comforts could prove costly to Poole’s promotion bid as weather woes continue to cause fixture chaos.

Play-off chasing Dolphins, already faced with a crippling backlog, were forced to switch their home match with Hungerford Town to Wimborne’s Cuthbury home last week.

After seeing their match at Redditch postponed on Saturday, Poole have 22 league and cup matches to fit in to the final 10 weeks of the season .

But while moving fixtures to less saturated grounds remains a possibility for the Tatnam outfit, Killick felt playing elsewhere could prove one setback too many.

Discussing the prospect of playing games at other grounds, Killick told the Daily Echo: “These decisions are made at club level but from my point of view I would be very reluctant to give up home advantage.

"Our pitch in particular is conducive to our style of play. We have a big, wide playing surface at Tatnam and utilise it well.

“Having drawn too many matches of late, coupled with the number of games we still have to fit in, we have a difficult enough task ahead of us without losing that advantage as well.

“But, if we lost one or both of the next two matches, or if the situation dragged on much longer then we might be forced to consider it.

"Any addition to the backlog would create significant difficulties.”

Poole are due to host Frome Town in the Southern League Premier Division tonight (7.45) with Killick suggesting the fixture could take place on Wednesday if the weather intervenes again.

Keith Emmerson is unavailable for the clash while Richard Gillespie reamins sidelined, despite making progress in recent weeks.

On Gillespie's condition, Killick added: "He did quite a bit more in training on Saturday. As well as straight-line sprinting he was changing direction and he hit a few balls.

"We will have to see how he responds to that over the next few days but, hopefully, he can step things up over the next couple of weeks."
