CAPTAIN Tommy Elphick reckons valuable lessons had been learned since Cherries fell to a pair of sucker punches against Bolton Wanderers in November.

Despite boasting two-thirds of the possession, Eddie Howe’s charges were undone by David Ngog’s goal eight minutes before the interval, while Jermaine Beckford went on to wrap up a 2-0 success for the Trotters late on.

The result came in the middle of what turned out to be a confidence-draining seven-match winless run, however, after impressive results over the festive period, Elphick warned that Wanderers would be facing a more cutthroat Cherries outfit this time.

Asked whether Cherries would be seeking revenge in tomorrow’s clash at the Reebok Stadium (3pm), the skipper told the Daily Echo: “It is difficult because we could say that about a few teams this season but we just are concentrating on ourselves.

“We have been playing some great stuff and the mindset has changed a little bit since then. We have started to look a bit more stern and ruthless in both boxes and, hopefully, we can test that up at Bolton and come away with a win.

“Over the past few weeks we have had a run of five home games and the performances have been very positive. We have to take that away from home now.

"Whether it is Bolton or anyone else we just have to look to do what we do and put to the back of our minds what happened earlier in the season.”
