CHERRIES have completed the deadline day signing of Charlton Athletic striker Yann Kermorgant.

The Frenchman has penned a two-and-a-half year contract at Dean Court and could be available for tomorrow’s Championship clash at home to league leaders Leicester City – one of his former clubs. Cherries are awaiting confirmation from the Football League over Kermorgant's availability.

News of Cherries’ interest in the 32-year-old frontman was revealed exclusively by the Echo and the player held talks with the Dorset club on Wednesday after Cherries’ bid, in the region of £400,000, was accepted by the Londoners.

Kermorgant returned to London on Wednesday evening to mull over a move to the south coast, with Addicks boss Chris Powell keen to keep his star man, who was out of contract at the Valley in the summer.

Kermorgant, who joined Charlton on a free transfer from Leicester in 2011, netted for the Addicks in their opening day defeat by Cherries in August and also scored the only goal when the teams met in League One in March 2012.

Meanwhile, Cherries have also confirmed that young Guiseley midfielder Ben Whitfield has signed for the club’s development squad.

The teenager was shown around Dean Court and introduced to the playing squad this morning.
