DECORATED non-league legend Taffy Richardson dedicated his latest accolade to his family after receiving Dorset FA’s Outstanding Service for Playing Award on Tuesday.
Dorset’s answer to Stanley Matthews, still playing at the age of 47, admitted to being “humbled” by the gong which he scooped following a nomination by officials at Poole Town.
Richardson told the Daily Echo: “With work and everything else you need a supportive family when you play and my kids have been fantastic.
“I had them at weekends and there they were, stood round watching Wessex League football.
"My wife is an inspiration to me as well. She remains very supportive."
Wimborne Town assistant-manager Paul Roast received the same award while a host of voluntary members had their years of service recognised by the county association.
