BOURNEMOUTH Poppies plumped up their cushion over the Wessex League Premier Division relegation places with a 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Totton & Eling.
Goals from Will Robinson and Luke Ingram either side of the interval saw Poppies recover from Dougie Rowe’s early penalty for the visitors to extend to seven points their advantage over the division’s bottom two.
In the Southern League Premier Division, defender Dave Marden rescued a late point for bottom club Bashley at Burnham. The hosts had scored three minutes into the game.
In Wessex One, New Milton Town lost 3-0 to Hythe & Dibden while Ringwood Town were beaten 1-0 by Laverstock & Ford.
Non-league matches involving Poole Town, Wimborne Town, Hamworthy United, Christchurch and Verwood Town were all postponed.
In today’s rugby action, Ben Priddey's hat-trick helped Redruth to a 21-10 victory over Bournemouth, Lions’ 13th straight National Two South defeat.
