BOSS Eddie Howe admitted he had resisted the temptation to show his Cherries players any footage of Luis Suárez – in case it scared them.

Cherries could face the Premier League’s top goalscorer when they do battle with Liverpool in tomorrow’s FA Cup fourth round clash at Dean Court (12.45pm).

The unpredictable Uruguayan, one of the hottest properties in the world on current form, has struck fear into defenders and plundered 22 goals this season.

He came off the bench in Liverpool’s third round win over Oldham and is expected to feature as Howe’s men bid to achieve what would be a famous giant-killing.

Asked for his opinion on Suárez, Howe said: “I think he is unplayable and you only have to look at some of the goals he has scored against top Premier League players. Some of his finishes, movement and bits of play are outstanding.

“There isn’t too much I can tell my players about him that they don’t already know so we just need to concentrate on our bits and pieces and make sure we do them correctly.

“If he were to produce a bit of magic, we would just have to hold up our hands and say he was too good. But to actually sit down and show our players DVDs of him, I just think that would make them scared and I wouldn’t want to go down that route.”

Although Liverpool, the seven- time FA Cup winners, are hot favourites, Howe maintains Cherries are not simply preparing to settle to be “gallant losers”.

He added: “We are massive underdogs, even though we are at home.

“It is a day for us to really enjoy and, hopefully, for the supporters to enjoy. But there is pressure on us to perform and I want a performance. I want us to play as we always do and try to take our game to Liverpool.

“I think it is really important we don’t change how we play because that wouldn’t suit us. I am looking forward to the game and seeing our players playing against some of the best in the world. What an experience for them.

“They have been very focused this week and training has been of a really high standard.

“I have been very pleased with how we have prepared and the players’ mentality has been excellent.

“It is a sell-out and there is a huge reward at the end of it. We are live on national television so it is a really good chance for us to showcase our skills.

“We are not without a chance and we don’t ever go into any game with that mind-set. If we perform to the best of our ability and have a little bit of luck, you never know.

“All I would say is the gap between where we are in the Championship and the top of the Premier League is huge.

“That is not to say we can’t give a really good account of ourselves, test them and ask questions. That is what we will be looking to do.”
