CHERRIES assistant boss Jason Tindall has tipped Benji Buchel for a big future by proclaiming: “He is probably one of the best shot-stoppers I have ever seen.”

The 24-year-old, who join-ed Cherries in August 2012, is back in action following a frustrating eight-month injury lay-off with knee ligament damage.

Buchel has been furthering his football education with a one-month loan at Southern League Premier Division promotion contenders Poole Town.

The Liechtenstein-born stopper, who has also served Dorset neighbours Dorchester Town during a temporary spell, is behind Lee Camp, Ryan Allsop and Darryl Flahavan in the Dean Court pecking order.

However, Tindall is predicting a bright career for the emerging talent and says he expects Buchel, and fellow Cherries loanee Jordan Chiedozie, to reap the rewards of game time with the Dolphins.

Tindall told the Daily Echo: “Sometimes, you can do too much training and be constantly training but with no real carrot at the end of it.

“It is great for both of the boys. Benji is with the first team every day so I can speak more about Benji although I know Jordan has performed really well in the time he has been fit in the development squad.

“Benji has been outstanding in training and he is probably one of the best shot-stoppers I have ever seen.

“I think that (Poole Town loan) will just be a stepping stone for someone like Benji because he has got the ability and potential to perform at a lot higher level than Poole Town.”

Poole manager Tom Killick agreed with Tindall and said Buchel had immediately stood out as a class performer for the Dolphins.

Killick said: “Within about 15 minutes of his first game, it was clear that we had a goalkeeper who was exceptional at our standard. I am sure he has got a big future ahead of him.”

Buchel and Chiedozie are both expected to feature when Poole host Banbury United at Tatnam tomorrow (3pm), with the keeper’s loan deal set to expire after the match.

The Dolphins, who are protecting a 10-game unbeaten run in the league, are hoping that central midfielder Steve Devlin will be ready to return.

However, striker Richard Gillespie, a long-term injury victim with plantar fasciitis, remains on the sidelines.
