CHERRIES star Tokelo Rantie is determined to showcase his skills as he prepares for his first appearance in the FA Cup.

The South African international could be handed his debut in the famous competition when Cherries host Burton Albion in the third round tomorrow night (7.45pm).

Striker Rantie, 23, has netted one goal for Cherries, a powerful 25-yarder at Burnley, since moving to Dean Court from Malmo in a club record transfer deal.

Rantie has played in a number of knockout competitions, including the Europa League and Africa Cup of Nations, and he is relishing the chance to add another to the collection. He told the Daily Echo: “I have watched the FA Cup before because I have been following English football for quite some time now.

“I think it is a great opportunity for us. We know that if we do well in this competition that a lot of people will see what we are capable of doing.

“If we win, we get the opportunity to play against Liverpool and anyone would want that opportunity. We just have to do what we are capable of doing.

“The FA Cup has good stature and has been there for a long time and it is an opportunity for players to showcase their talent.

“I believe every single manager would love to give his players the opportunity in these kind of cup games and it will also help players, who are not getting enough game-time, to show what they are capable of doing in this type of competition. I think it is good for the whole team and the opportunity is there for everyone.”
