MATT Ford says he has identified the rider he hopes will complete Pirates’ 2014 team building.

Pirates promoter Ford yesterday moved a step closer to finalising Poole’s side for next season by signing Vaclav Milik.

Ford confirmed the Czech Republic ace had been snapped up by Pirates on an assessed four- point average, having never before competed in the British leagues.

That left Ford with a remaining 7.50 points to play with for the seventh and final member of the team which will bid to successfully defend the Elite League title.

And Ford, who has been linked with a host of potential recruits including ex-Poole ace Przemyslaw Pawlicki, revealed he had one particular rider in mind.

He told the Daily Echo: “There is more than one option but I do have someone in mind. I am just waiting for things to fall into place.

“Sometimes, it is not just about averages but also commitments and on what days people ride.”

The signing of Milik ruled out Poole assets Krzysztof Kasprzak and Antonio Lindback due to their averages being too high.

Pirates 2014 (starting averages): Ward (9.07), Janowski (6.95), Grajczonek (4.48), Vaclav Milik (4.00), Newman, Smart.
