AFC Bournemouth: Lewis Grabban relishing central role
STRIKER Lewis Grabban is targeting another awayday success after playing a starring role in Cherries’ 2-1 victory at Reading.
Grabban led the line superbly at the Madejski Stadium and was rewarded with his eighth goal of the season.
The 25-year-old worked tirelessly as he often ploughed a lone furrow up front, a role Grabban admits he relishes.
He told the Daily Echo: “It is hard work.
“You have two centre-halves to occupy and you have to do a lot more. You have to be able to link the play and make runs in behind so there is a lot of reliance on you to keep the ball and keep possession.
“All in all, it is quite difficult but it is something I enjoy.
“Generally, I like playing through the middle by myself or with another striker so my preference is being more central.”
Grabban, who recently penned an improved contract with Cherries, will be hoping to maintain his impressive form when Eddie Howe’s men visit Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The Londoner added: “Their season, like ours, has been a bit up and down so it will be a tough game.
“From what I have heard, they are quite direct.
“You look at the table and see they are near the bottom but that doesn’t mean anything.
“Every match is tough and we will have to be on our game.
“It is a nice ground and a big stadium. Hopefully, we can do well.”
