CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe is focused on building strong league form ahead of hosting either Burton Albion or Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup third round.

Burton and Fleetwood, who drew 1-1 in yesterday's initial second round clash, are both currently in the League Two play-off zone and the winners of their replay will visit Dean Court on the weekend of January 4/5.

Manager Howe is hoping Cherries can kick on following their fine victory at Reading and build momentum during the Christmas and new year period.

Howe told the Daily Echo: “We are coming into a hectic period and we are determined to continue the form we showed at Reading.

“I thought our all-round performance was excellent and we will need to maintain those levels as we look to build on that result during what is always a busy and important spell around Christmas.

“Every team wants a home draw in the FA Cup so we are pleased with that and we are aiming to enjoy a good run in the competition. Burton and Fleetwood are both flying high in League Two and, as ever, we will need to prepare fully and thoroughly for the game.

“Before then, our focus will be firmly on our upcoming league games and we are aiming to pick up where we left off at Reading against Birmingham next Saturday.”
