EDDIE Howe revealed that Mohamed Coulibaly was nearing a comeback and then welcomed Cherries’ increased options on the flanks.

Summer signing Coulibaly impressed during pre-season but has been restricted to just four appearances this term due to injuries.

Coulibaly, who has suffered from Achilles and calf problems, is close to returning to training and giving Howe another selection choice in wide areas.

Josh McQuoid is back in training, while fit-again duo Matt Ritchie and Ryan Fraser recently joined Marc Pugh and versatile Lewis Grabban in matchday contention.

Howe told the Daily Echo: “For the first time this season in wide areas, we have actually had a choice to make, which was great.

“It is great to have the flexibility to either switch wingers or bring a winger off the bench to make an impact for half an hour.

“Ryan did really well when he came on against QPR on Tuesday. He is an exciting young talent so it is great to have him available.

“And with Mohamed Coulibaly not far away, we will be looking good in wide areas. He has not trained with us yet but I believe he is only a few days away. We are looking forward to getting him back with us.”
