AFC Bournemouth: Cook reckons Cherries can topple 'Premier League' Hoops
DEFENDER Steve Cook wants to help Cherries shock the Championship by upsetting the odds against title favourites QPR.
Cherries centre-half Cook believes Eddie Howe’s men are capable of springing a surprise when they visit Loftus Road tonight (7.45pm).
The 22-year-old, who has started every league match for the club this season, reckons Cherries will be facing a Premier League standard squad in the clash.
But he says the pressure will be off Cherries as they bid to showcase their skills against the third-placed Hoops.
Cook told the Daily Echo: “Their squad is Premier League and it is a Premier League club.
“They have a massive budget, a great manager and it is nice for us because we can go there with no pressure. It is all on them.
“We will go and show what we are all about and we feel that we can go there and win. We want to be a team that upsets the odds.”
QPR boast a team packed with top-flight experience and internationals, including the likes of Rob Green, Niko Kranjcar and Richard Dunne.
Another player Cook is set to face is former Poole Town striker Charlie Austin, who has already netted eight league goals this term.
Cook added: “Last season, he was one of the top goalscorers and he was wanted by Premier League clubs.
“He is going to be a real handful and he is a proven goalscorer but that is what it is all about in this league.
“You want to play against the best players possible and the best teams.
“It will be a good test for me, Tommy (Elphick) and the rest of the team but, hopefully, we will be able to come out on top.”
