Pirates: Ford to boost Poole asset list with lower-average riders
PIRATES chief Matt Ford has revealed his intent to bolster the club’s asset list this winter – by signing lower-average riders.
The Poole promoter believes Pirates’ roster currently lacks balance due to a shortage of middle-order options.
But while Ford recently added Josh Grajczonek to the likes of Tomas H Jonasson, Kyle Howarth and Kyle Newman as assets in the three to six-point range, he admits Poole could need to continue that trend.
Ford has already stated his desire to snap up Jack Holder – younger brother of Chris – as an asset as he builds for the future. And the Australian rookie is not the only rider on Pirates’ wish-list.
Ford told the Daily Echo: “The AGM runs from November 14-16 and then I will know exactly what we can do. I would certainly like to sign one asset and depending how things go, possibly two.
“Whether it would be a rider who is new or someone who is on somebody else’s asset list, I would like to add.
“We have got a lot of very good, top riders on our asset list, such as Chris Holder, Darcy Ward, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Antonio Lindback and Bjarne Pedersen.
“What we do seem to lack is a lot of the five-pointers and we are in need of one or two more of those type of riders.”
