POOLE'S quest for a place in the FA Cup first round proper will continue on home soil on Tuesday following a 0-0 draw at Staines Town this afternoon.

Dolphins competed throughout their fourth qualifying round clash against the Conference South outfit and deserved their second bite of the cup cherry after the stalemate at Wheatsheaf Park.

Warren Byerley had the pick of the first half opportunities when he pounced on Jerel Ifil’s mistake and fired a powerful effort at Staines stopper Kyle Merson.

Captain Will Spetch had the visitors' best chance four minutes after half-time when his unmarked header narrowly cleared the crossbar from point-blank range.

Moments later, both Spetch and Marvin Brooks failed to poke the ball through a wall of Staines shirts during a goalmouth scramble before the home side enjoyed some late pressure.

Chances fell to striker Louie Theophanous and skipper Lewis Ferrell, who headed wide seconds from time, but Poole lived to fight another day and find themselves in the hat for tomorrow's draw ahead of their replay at Tatnam
