Cherries, AFC Bournemouth, Howe
Paterson, who played under Howe at Burnley, provided the assist for James Vaughan to net the Terriers’ third goal at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The 26-year-old Northern Ireland international played his part as Huddersfield condemned Cherries to a 5-1 defeat – their second heavy reverse on the road.
Paterson told the Daily Echo: “I know it would have hurt Eddie because he is a winner.
“But we are only four games into the season and there is no need to panic.
“Bournemouth are a good team and we just managed to get the upper hand. I am sure they will respond and, if they don’t, Eddie will make them because he is a great manager.
“Goals change games and we managed to convert our chances and they didn’t. Eddie Howe’s teams will always be competitive and will always pass the ball.
“They will improve and will be fine this season. I know Eddie and Jason Tindall very well and I know they will get them working.
“The Championship is a tough league and it can be an eye opener if you haven’t played in it before. It is volatile and there will be lots of ups and downs. The big thing is to move on from defeats and try to win your next game.
“Bournemouth have plenty of experience and talent in their squad and will play some great stuff under Eddie. They will be a force, especially at home.”
