WIMBORNE captain Dave Huggins equalled their record league try haul of five in a single game as they romped to a 63-0 success at Cooper Avon Tyres.

The big win left the All Blacks only two points off a promotion play-off spot in third place in Southern Counties South.

Huggins, playing at openside flanker, was in simply sensational form against bottom-of-the-table Cooper, who had lost all 10 previous league games this term.

Wimborne were handicapped when they were reduced to 14 men inside 10 minutes of the game.

But by then flanker James Baker had finished off a threequarters' move after five minutes to give the All Blacks the lead.

Then Huggins got the first of his quintet with a typical defence splitting run to grab a try converted by fly half Paul Roberts.

Winger Martin Chapman scored next to make it 17-0 before full back Karim Lynch touched down to cap a thrilling solo run from his own 22-metre line.

Roberts slotted over to give Wimborne a 24-0 half-time lead.

The All Blacks ran riot in the second half with Huggins grabbing four of seven further tries, with Roberts adding two more conversions.

Lynch got his second touchdown but second row John Peart got the biggest cheer from his team-mates after claiming his first senior try for Wimborne - and his side's final one - to cap a brilliant all round team display.

Wimborne first team manager Andy Read said: "We stuck to our game plan of moving the ball wide using our pace despite being down a player.

"We handled the strong wind well, but, in truth, we should have scored a lot more against an ordinary defence.

"It was great that Dave was able to equal our league try record as well."
