IAIN Weaver is set to face Hungarian opponent Roland Mohacsi when he makes his long-awaited professional debut later this month.
The Ferndown fighter is poised to meet the 23-year-old in a four-round contest at the historic York Hall in Bethnal Green on April 27.
Former amateur star Weaver has had his maiden appearance in the paid ranks delayed since the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) rejected his application for a British licence after a brain scan showed a cyst.
But Weaver, who was last month granted a Spanish licence, is finally in line to appear on home soil as the York Hall show is being sanctioned by the Luxembourg federation.
His super featherweight rival Mohacsi has a record of seven wins from nine professional contests.
Confirming details of the bout, Weaver’s father Jay told the Daily Echo: “We are trying to get decent opponents and get people coming to watch Iain. We have got a decent opponent to show off Iain’s skills.”
