Cherries: Ritchie nominated for Football League award

Cherries star Matt Ritchie has been shortlisted for the Football League's player of the year award.

The winger, who signed for Cherries from Swindon in January, is joined on the League One shortlist by Coventry's Leon Clarke and Notts County's Alan Judge.

The nominations come from managers' votes and the awards for each division will be handed out at a ceremony in London on Sunday.

well done Matt you have been nominated for your time when you were at STFC and i hope you go on to win it.

Matt Ritchie always welcome at STFC and one day Bournemouth may realise your best position.

We know his best position but have not had the resources to play him there yet as well you know LeNob! Much to his and everyone's frustration I'm sure!

Well done Matt!!

Well I know his best position isn't on the bench which is where he was last week. Excellent player, possibly the best in this division and we should be making the best use of him.

TedMac - i thought the mighty Bournemouth with all your russian money were the dogs do da's with all your big money signings so saying you are lacking resources is nonsense as EH said he needs to trim the squad.
So how do you come up with your answer or is it a poor excuse.
Matt Ritchie will always have the red blood of STFC in him and remember that.

I have to agree with Elphick on COWS regarding Saturdays opponents Bury.
.
They are fighting for their lives and on paper it looks like three points, but we have to keep it tight and do a disciplined, professional job on them and win ugly if we have to.
.
They are bouyed by a win on Tuesday. They have players who will be playing for contracts and will have young players out to prove themselves to the manager and maybe they are already resigned to going down so they will play without fear.
.
We have to be on our guard, look sharp and for Christ's sake we must not let them get their noses in front, if they do we will face an uphill battle. .
.
Bearing in mind the pressure in on us and not them as they are playing away from home and have nothing to lose.
.
I always remember Stoke City a few years ago who needed a point to secure promotion to the Champiomnship and lost at home to Hartlepool who were already relagated. i.e Pools played without fear.
.
Here's to a postive result on Saturday.
.

Why is it certain people think we have money to burn !? This is just not true LG! We have had an amount of financial backing (for once! and I've been following >40yrs) and perhaps money was thrown around a bit before EH returned but the purse-strings seem to be tightening now, hence some of the staff redundancies of late.

We have had a couple of key players injured coinciding with our bad run and as Matt is a versatile player he's helped us where needed, that is not an excuse if he was the best option at the time.

Finally should Mr RichTea truly have the Romany blood of STFC in him I shall be watching out for any match-fixing moves from him when we next play you ;-]

I thought hell would freeze over before I found myself agreeing with you, but on this one, you're spot-on. Bury won at Swindon a couple of weeks back as well, and (I'm sure they won't) must not be underestimated. UTCIAD.

Very best of luck to you Matt. I hope you go onto win it. Always gave 100% at Swindon, probabily our best all round player. He was placed under awful pressure when we had to sell him and has come through the entire ordeal with total professionalism. Just goes to confirm his true worth!. I'm sure he is giving everything for his new club- no matter where he is being played.

Bournemouth's net spending over last 3 years is approximately minus £1,000,000 (we've taken far more in on selling players than we've spent out). Wages may be another story but then its not cheap to live in a nice area like this so, like many of our signings, Ritchie will have needed a pay rise given he was making a huge move up in the world.

I've got that feeling too Steady. I've seen us lose twice at Wembley already so i'll take third time lucky!!
Actually I went with some mates I think the last time AFCB were there - when you lost against Grimsby in the auto windscreens??.....so I guess one of us would have to win this time if it happens ha ha!!

Dry your eyes Swindle fans, you really have to accept the fact that young Matthew has moved onwards and upwards in the world. I know he meant a lot to you but you really must move on now and start idolising someone else, maybe one of your youth team players seeing as your embargoed again. And don't worry, we are all well aware here of Matt's best position and now our 1st choice left back is fit and Matt's got over the bang on the head he recieved at Stevenage he will be marauding up and down the wing terrorising full backs like he used to for you. Now please, could you all go and console yourselves on your own site and pat him on the back there, i think us AFCB supporters are finding it a little bit uncomfortable and embarresing!

we only have one hard fixture left and thats against colchester away a form side at the moment losing only once inthe last six matches, we will win the rest of our games. giving us 82 points. not enough for automatic promotion im afraid. that run of 5 loses really did us no good.

Yep, back in the day of the golden goal, good day out ruined. Something else we kept quiet about is that we were in fact the inaugural winners of that particular trophy in it's original guise, way back in 1984.

Swindon still in their embargo it seems, and being taken to court by their beloved Di Canio.

As for Matt, he'll have to earn his place alongside Wes Fogden and Ryan Fraser. Foggy has done nothing to warrent dropping.
