Cherries: Sheringham returns to Dartford on loan
3:00pm Wednesday 20th March 2013 in Sport
By Neil Perrett
FIT-again Cherries striker Charlie Sheringham has today rejoined former club Dartford on a month’s loan.
Sheringham signed for Cherries from the-then Conference South outfit in October 2011 before he was struck down by a serious foot injury just two months later.
The 24-year-old was sidelined for 14 months after fracturing a bone in his foot when he netted his maiden goal in the Football League during Cherries’ 1-1 draw at Brentford on Boxing Day 2011.
Sheringham, restricted to just six appearances, including four from the bench, took his first steps on the comeback trail when he was given a 45-minute run-out during Cherries’ Hampshire Senior Cup semi-final win at AFC Totton a fortnight ago.
Dartford, who host Gateshead on Saturday, are currently mid-table in the Conference having won the Conference South play-off final against Welling United in May.
News of a proposed loan move for Sheringham was revealed exclusively by Cherries boss Eddie Howe in Saturday's Daily Echo.
Howe said: "Charlie may need a loan period to get some games for the last part of his rehabilitation. He has been out for a long time and has done well in training. He has looked bright and sharp but has only had one game.
“I think the next stage for him will be to get some regular football but we will have to wait and see. If we get a couple of injuries, we may have to re-assess it but I think it would be a good path for him.”

Just puzzled why the Echo has billed this a breaking news ?? What is breaking news about it exactly!! If we had signed Rooney on loan from Man Utd I would have understood it.
.
Let's hope he hits the target for Dartford regularly because I have the awful feeling that he is one player that may be released as he may not fot into Eds plans.
.
I do hope I am wrong.

Yes a good move for him and sharpen him up. Looked a good prospect.

After 2 days of the phone not being answered (and also being diverted to a mobile numbers voice mail this morning).
Someone answered the ticket office number to say the phone network is down since the weekend due to a lightning strike! and that someone would give me a call back (nothing yet).
Does anyone know the story or whether this is legitimate, or is it the redundancies that EM made, now effecting the efficency of paying customers wishing to purchase tickets & supporting the club?
Just seems something isn't right here........

Can someone throw some light on a situation? I live in London and have been trying to buy tickets via phone for Colchester Away since Monday.

They were having problems with the checkouts in Boscombe Sainsburys the next morning so I don't think there is anything ominous here.

There was indeed a weather event on Saturday evening with some lightning and a fair amount of hail.

Even so, you would have thought that any such problems would have been sorted out by now.
Personally I would have done the standard IT fix and switched the equipment off and then on again!!!!!

No worries Nonno. I was in Winchester and the storm cell tracked up to there after leaving the Bournemouth By all accounts the activity in the Bournemouth was quite impressive for the time of year!!

I saw Swindon play last night on Sky they looked quite a good side hope they go up automatically as i wouldnt like Boscombe to get thm in the playoffs if we get that far.

Looking at Saturday , Bury's skipper has said they need to go on a " crazy " run to stay up . I wish them well AFTER the game with us . It's our job to make sure no " crazy " events take place at Dean Court !

Neither team looked that good and I dont think any team from league one could have done a better job than Swindon last night. First half was poor, but second was all Swindon. Keeps the top of the table interesting.

Unless both clubs could lose the match (and I've not known that happen yet), then I'm not sure what reason there is for sour grapes, when whatever the result AFCB would be affected. Our rivals taking points off one another - all part of the run-in fun.

Mike Oxbig wrote:Of course forgot Macdonald who was very influential before his injury and gave us some height in midfield which we lack with the mighty midgets Arter and OKane And dont forget Fraser who might be able to unlock some defences. Thats 19 in total even after Eddie has got rid of a few. What strength in depth we have for the run in. Looking forward to Saturday with the Sheff United v Brentford game on before us presumably on TV in the Cherries bar hopefully
