Cherries: Defender Painter recalled by Brighton

DEFENDER Marcos Painter has been recalled by parent club Brighton from his ill-fated loan spell with Cherries.

Painter arrived at Dean Court in February and was drafted in to provide cover for Cherries’ left-back crisis.

The 26-year-old was signed in the wake of Charlie Daniels succumbing to a foot injury and to allow Matt Ritchie to move into his favoured right-wing position.

He arrived just days after Cherries had climbed to the League One summit following a 2-1 win at Crewe, their fifth victory in succession.

However, Painter finished up on the losing side after making just two appearances for Cherries and was substituted at half-time in both games against Preston and Sheffield United.

Cherries boss Howe said: “Although it didn’t quite work out with Marcos as we would have hoped, he was the ultimate professional off the pitch.

“He was very good in the dressing room even though he wasn’t involved as much as he would have liked. He goes back to Brighton with our best wishes and I hope he has a good end to the season.”

In fairness to Painter, his performances were in fact due to lack of match fitness.
.
It was stated that he had only played three competitive games all season before joining us. I have seen him many times last season and he is a more than capable left back, when fit that is.
.
Regards

Well we can use wes fogden at left back now, think that was a panic move bringing in an unfit/lack of matches player in at this time of the season in any league, hope Ritchie can make the Oldham game on the right wing now
