Cherries: Embleton falls victim of Dean Court redundancies

CHERRIES youth team coach Ross Embleton is understood to have become the latest casualty of the Dean Court job cuts.

Embleton, who joined Cherries in the summer from Spurs, was believed to have been told yesterday that the club were making him redundant.

He was drafted in to take charge of the club’s under-18s after Paul Groves and Shaun Brooks were promoted from the youth ranks to the first-team fold.

The Daily Echo understands another member of the youth department may also have fallen victim of the cull, while John Donoghue, who was appointed head of youth in the close season, also left the club recently.

Earlier this week, chairman Eddie Mitchell described as “restructuring” the club’s decision to shed a number of positions, with seven employees understood to have been made redundant.

When Groves and his sidekick were booted out of the 1st team roles and given back their old roles, it was pretty obvious then, that you didn't need 4 people running the Youth Team.
It sucks being made redundant, but they aren't the only people in this country who have been made redundant. Every News article now is about these redundancies. Get over it!

You could get lots of social housing the site of the stadium. Ask Dave Wells and he will cram in hundreds. Lots of problems solved.
1. Cash for EM.
2. Large number of homes built.
3. Saves green belt land in the area.
4. The EU influx next year will require a home.
6. It would tidy up a scruffy area of Bournemouth.
7. Footie fans would find a worthwhile club to support.

You obviously never go to watch the Cherries do you, moreover do not have a clue what you are talking about.
Once again a hidden agenda from a person who cares not what they say or who it affects just trying to be controversial.
Just keep taking the tablets mate and reading the Daily Mail probably ?
Oh hang on weren't things better when we put kids down coal mines and chips were a hapeth a bag, get real.

...no problem with redundancies (they are a fact of life...I have suffered it myself back in the 90's)

I have a problem with the guy making the decisions and WHO is being targeted...I mean we STILL have two failed managers on the books who are lucky to still be employed. Why then sack people who are more dedicated and useful but keep losers on board?

maybe because we have the biggest loser at the head of the club?

The fact that Brooks is family and Mitchell screwed up yet again when he appointed Groves/Brooks, both with ridiculous contracts, so it is hardly surprising that Embleton is sadly made to pay the price. For goodness sakes Maxim, PLEASE buy Mitchell out, the man is a liability!!!

To be fair we did have way too many people involved with the youth team, and that was even before groves & brooks returned to their previous roles. This is one area that definitely needed restructuring.

Perhaps we should also be offloading, the 4 or 5 goalkeepers kicking their heels every saturday afternoon.
Can see at least a dozen players being released at the end of the season.

In reality the coaching area of the club has been overstaffed fot a while. with groves and brookes, we are contracted to pay them for another 18 months or so whether they work or not. i guess that management may be hoping that they can do a decent enough job with the youths to find employment elsewhere and go of their own accord (unlikely though that is).

Redundancies are dreadful news at any business, I sincerely hope those affected will find new jobs soon. Good luck and I'm sure the management appreciate the work you have done in steering the club in the right direction.
