Cherries: Keeper James linked with Iceland switch

OUT-of-favour Cherries keeper David James could be set to swap Dorset for Iceland after emerging as a possible target for top-flight outfit IBV.
The Sun today reported that the former England international had been invited to train with the Icelandic club by manager Hermann Hreidarsson.
Ex-Premier League defender Hreidarsson could try to persuade the veteran stopper to sign ahead of the start of his team's campaign in May.
Signed by Paul Groves in September, James penned a short-term deal with Cherries which is due to expire this summer.
Cherries boss Eddie Howe confirmed to the Daily Echo that he understood James had travelled to Iceland to check out IBV's set-up, with the 42-year-old a former team-mate of Hreidarsson's from their time together at Portsmouth.
James could have an eye on next season and first-team football having fallen down the pecking order at Dean Court last month.
A regular under Groves and during the early stages of Howe's reign, James has not featured since Shwan Jalal regained the number one jersey.
Jalal was drafted in for his first League One start since September when he replaced James for Cherries' victory at Hartlepool on January 22.
James has not been named on the bench since then with recent recruit Ryan Allsop a regular substitute following his move from Leyton Orient.
Vastly-experienced goalkeeper James has earned 53 England caps in a distinguished career which has also included spells with Watford, Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, Man City, Portsmouth and Bristol City.

Told you, he has been treated like **** from the club, but the reason he has not played is that they would have to offer him a new contract if he plays 1 more game. All this stuff eddie howe saying jalal was brought in for his football skills is totat rubbish but they will never admit that.
