FORM GUIDE

Cherries’ record in the 21 league games since Eddie Howe’s appointment is quite remarkable. P21 W15 D5 L1 GF45 GA19.
In stark contrast, Graham Westley was axed by Preston after overseeing just three league victories in the club’s past 21 matches.

2:48pm

DEBUTANT – Marcos Painter

CHERRIES last night snapped up Brighton star Marcos Painter on loan as cover for injured full-back Charlie Daniels.

Painter, 26, will remain at Dean Court until the end of the season and will add his useful experience to Cherries’ promotion push.

The Birmingham-born defender started his career at St Andrews before joining Swansea City in 2007. Painter remained with the Swans until 2010 when he sealed a loan move to Brighton.

The deal was made permanent later that year when Painter penned a two-year deal with the Seagulls. He then helped Brighton secure promotion from League One as champions in 2011.

He starts today at left-back with Daniels sidelined.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM – Preston caretaker boss John Dreyer

Dreyer, in temporary charge following Graham Westley’s Deepdale departure, told the Lancashire Evening Post: “I see the Bournemouth game as an opportunity and the one thing we have in our favour is expectation. Of course, expectation comes from within and it will certainly come from me.

“But, from the outside looking in, there is not a lot of expectation in terms of a positive result on this game in view of how we have done recently.

“We have, maybe, got a little bit less pressure on us than in recent home games and that is something which might help us.

“That is not to say we are going to give up the ghost and hand Bournemouth the three points. Let’s make it clear, that is certainly not going to be the case.

“We are going to go out there and fight, we are going to play our football and try to win the game. I just see the Bournemouth game as a great opportunity. On paper, it is daunting, but I won’t be looking at it that way.”

2:36pm

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM – Cherries boss Eddie Howe

GETTING A TASTE FOR SUCCESS: Cherries boss Eddie Howe

After Cherries jumped to the League One summit following the win at Crewe on Tuesday, Howe told the Daily Echo: “We are the scalp that everybody wants so we are going to have to make sure we adapt to that and use it to our advantage and try to use it in a positive way.
“A lot of people talk about pressure at the top but, for me, you won’t find any more pressure than when you are at the bottom and scrapping for points.
“I think you should, as much as you can, try to enjoy being at the top of the league and try to really enjoy that pressure that comes with being successful. Hopefully, we can do that.
“I think you have got to relish it and enjoy it. If you can’t enjoy being top of the league and in that position, then you are not going to enjoy anything in football.
“What is key for me is that we try to focus on the next game and try to stay there. That is the most difficult part now – to try to stay there.
“Everyone will want to try to take our place so we have got to make sure nothing changes from our side and we continue to approach every game in the professional way that we have done.”

Agreed. We haven't be convincing this year, in my opinion. Maybe all the money Russia won't see us up.

Poor result today, no excuses. Other results not gone our way either, six points essential from next two games both at home! I wouldn't say EH tinkered too much, mcquoid's been poor the last few games and o'kane's gone off the boil. Dare i say it it seems like we were complacent today, although its hard to imagine eddie ever allowing that to happen. Onwards and upwards. Also, pathetic comment from dorsetblues, pr*ck! I hardly think 2 defeats in 22 means our bubbles burst!

Why are you worried about our result when the Pompey game is still going on? Surely you are at fratton supporting your boys and not worrying about how the league leaders are getting on

And your great club will be playing in front of less than half of those 3,500 next season, assuming you can raise the £50 to buy fratton park.

O'Kane in my view has not been able to push forward since we lost McDonald to injury. I would of kept cook with Seaborne in centre back position and left Richie doing a fab job at left back. But as you say, 2 huge games coming up and hopefully 6 points!! Up the cherries!!

Dorsetblues, your a disgrace to your club.

We have Tranmere away - now that is going to be really difficult especially after their last Fridays display - but hey we'll try and help you lot out with a win for the play off places. :o)

We dont need any help from anyone but thanks for the offer, very kind of you indeed.
Obviously you dont understand irony, so let me explain. One of your more "Gobby" supporters spent almost an entire week warning us about potential "banana skins" (ie MK, Pompey, Crewe etc etc) and low & behold you lot slipped up last week at home to the Monkey Hangers(appropriate given the banana theme).
Ok so we lost to Preston, and make no mistake about it we will suffer more losses before this is all resolved, but can you honestly say that others including Swindon will not suffer as well( i have noted ur opponants next sat so possibly more irony).
As things stand we are still top and im sure that there will be more twists & turns to come but who could deny us our moment of glory given all the crap we have had to endure over the years.??
I was pretty annoyed with your take on what happend on the adver on thurs. You tried to out me as the villain of the peace when all about you your own lot were far worst, i actually thought most of it was pretty harmless on both sides but that saddo from Salisbury completely over-stepped the mark.
We all have choices when it comes to visiting other fans sites and how we conduct ourselves, and as i said i wasn't proud of myself getting dragged down to their level, but for you to suggest that it was all down to me was well wide of the mark indeed. You have read many of my posts both on here and your site & rarely do i use obusive or threatening language, however if idiots like the one above(oldhamred) want to communicate in low-life fassion, well, they are fair game so dont start getting upperty when i/we reciprocate.

Chish and Fips says...

Good post Steady - but I do fail to see why as you say you have too lower yourself to reciprocate with an abusive or threatening way - surely this is lowering yourself and losing the whole point sometimes you are trying to get over... I always leave them to stew over their words and a lack of a response they are hoping to get.
