Cherries: Seaborne targets a fifth promotion (with video)
7:00am Friday 8th February 2013 in Sport
By Neil Perrett
PROMOTION specialist Dan Seaborne believes Cherries are equipped for the Championship but insists Eddie Howe’s men will not get ahead of themselves.
Seaborne climbed from the Conference to the Premier League after winning no fewer than four promotions in five seasons with Exeter and Southampton.
The 25-year-old defender is on loan to Cherries from Saints for the rest of the season and is hoping to add another memorable chapter to his career memoirs.
Asked for his recipe for success, Seaborne told the Daily Echo: “It takes a good group of lads and a really good leader and we tick both boxes here.
“You need to go on a good run and beat the teams in front of you. But it is a week-by-week process. You need to focus on each game and work on things in training. You need to have a good plan for each game, like we did for MK Dons, and go from there.
“When we won successive promotions at Southampton, we had a fantastic group of lads and were really close knit. It is the same here.
“We also had a change of manager, like there has been here, but the core of the players stayed the same. The manager here has done really well and you can see why. He is a great voice and a great tactician.
“There are similarities but that was Southampton and this is Bournemouth. It is not going to go exactly the same but, hopefully, the end result will be the same.
“Everybody here is trying to push in the same direction and the aim is to reach the Championship for every club in this league. But for Bournemouth, it is a real possibility. Hopefully, we can carry on and catch the top two.”
Seaborne is expected to keep his place when Cherries host Portsmouth tomorrow in the first league meeting between the clubs at Dean Court since 1989.
“It is another big game and is going to be a big test for us,” said Seaborne. “We have prepared really well this week so are looking forward to it.
“The league table goes out of the window. Everybody wants to beat you when you have been doing well, which we have in the past couple of weeks.”
Asked whether he was anticipating a warm reception from the Pompey supporters, Seaborne replied: “I don’t know, to be honest. I am at Bournemouth now so it is all about us trying to get the three points. Everybody gets a bit of stick now and again. It is all good for the game and it will be a good atmosphere.”

Well here I go - I am predicting a result of AFCB 2 Pompey 2.
.
This due to our possible defensive frailities and the fact that Eddie has other injury concerns, although this may well be paer talk.
.
League position and form always goes out the window with local derbies.
.
Naturally of course I hope I am wrong and we get the win.

Agree that in local derbies form counts for nothing, but I just feel we are too strong atm. Especially after the morale boosting win over mc dons. My prediction 4-0 to us :)

Yes I do hope we get a result, but we have to bear in mind what I have said in my earlier posts today.

Your game tomorrow will not be easy, yes on paper it's a 3 or 4 nil win but, their bad run has to come to an end sometime. Lets hope your boys are fully focused, but with your manager i can't see him allowing anything else for the whole game.
I hope Dan Seabourne, who by all accounts is playing well for you , signs on with you at the end of the season. Not being arrogant but he is not quite up to the mark for the PREMIERSHIP but can hack it in the CHAMPIONSHIP, where you should be next season. We will have too see if we are back there with you.
Best of luck tomorrow , go get them three points. Pack you ground out and out sing the Poopey boy's, and please i come in peace.

Make of that what you will ,but I`ve heard similar advice many times over the years and based on experience , so long as sensible precautions are taken, there shouldn`t be too much disruption to normal match day proceedings. My advice is to allow an extra 30 minutes than normal but plan ahead and maybe expect to have to look for an alternative parking spot as after all most recent home games have been `sell-outs`and I have only seen a slight increas in disruption compared to games earlier in this seaon.Myself,I`ll park in my normal spot, get to the ground in time for a couple of snifters and make my way to my seat after the teams` warm up when there is less chance of being struck by wayward practise shots.

I have ben saying for some time that we will have bad spell. We do have defensive frailties, not hepled by Cook's absence and Zubar being sent away.
.
And where has all this about AFCB being the best team in the league come from ? Sheff Utd have the strongest squad and have been through their bad spell. I am leaving them out of all calculations, regarding them high and dry as champions. 2nd place I expect Donny or Swindon, with Yeovil as dark horses. Tranny and Brentford should complete the top six, with AFCB also challenging.
.
I've seen it all before. Throughout the years we have invariably faltered in the home strait when challenging for promotion from this league, most recently 2 years ago. That includes the Bond years and without doubt the strongest ever AFCB squad and biggest under achievers. The only exception was THE season 86/87 when Harry assembled a dour, physical side with few frills.
.
I hope I'm wrong, but if I am it will require much from Mr Demin's cheque book to keep us in the Championship.
