Cherries: Howe set to mix things up over Christmas
7:00am Saturday 22nd December 2012 in Sport
By Ian Wadley
BOSS Eddie Howe has revealed that he intends to rotate his squad in a bid to keep Cherries’ promotion bid on track over the gruelling festive period.
The Cherries manager is vowing to hand a chance to some of his fringe players as he aims to maintain his team’s fine form in the weeks ahead.
Cherries will today face Crewe at Gresty Road in the first in a series of five potentially crucial matches in the space of a hectic 15 days.
Howe has around 22 senior players to select from as Cherries look to safely negotiate their way through a testing schedule.
And he is promising to ensure he keeps his men in peak condition as they attempt to stretch their 13-match unbeaten run.
Howe told the Daily Echo: “I think it is difficult for the players.
“Just purely from a physical perspective, it is a tough schedule. You get very little rest and recovery in between games.
“We are certainly going to need the squad in the coming weeks – there is no doubt about that.
“It will be a good chance for the people who haven’t had a lot of football to come in.
“We have also done a lot of travelling lately and we go to Crewe today, which is a long journey, so that doesn’t particularly help us.
“But it is nice to be at home on the 26th and 29th. I think they are going to be pivotal games for us in this run.
“If you can get your home form right, it makes the away games slightly easier.”
After facing Crewe, Cherries have back-to-back home matches when Yeovil Town and Crawley visit Dean Court on Boxing Day and December 29.
Those games will be followed by a tough trip to promotion rivals Brentford on New Year’s Day, before the FA Cup third round tie at Wigan.
Howe says he will ensure his players get as much recuperation as possible and says they will not be overworked on the training field.
He added: “You can’t work the players as hard as you would like to between games. At this stage of the year, it is really just a case of rest and recovery.
“You would like to think that the fitness work you have put in place during pre-season and the early parts of the season would then come to the fore for you.
“It will be very much a case of having to tailor the training to the games and make sure that the lads are fresh enough to play and perform when needed.”

I predict that we will lose today and on New Years Day, but will win the two home games. Not bothered about Wigan.....

It matters not who Moseley is on loan to weather it be Plymouth, Aldershot or Dingley Dale Village Eleven. Or weather his name is spelt Moseley or Mosley or any other combination of letters.
.
The fact remains that his loan spell should not have been extended in my view, especially with all the fixtures coming up and the fact that he could or maybe fill MacDonalds position of sitting in front of the back four. This in indeed a footballing issue.
.
In view of this I believe it is YOUR knowledge of football that my be called into question and not mine as I believe that I have raised a valid point i.e his loan extention and not quibbling my error about the club where he is on loan at or the
mis-spelling of his name.
.
I am sure that there are some posters on here who do in fact possess a footballing ethos and who can actually see the point I am trying to make.
.
It seems to me that if your brain was made of elastc it would not stretch the width of a pidgeons skull.
.
Unfortunately due to MacDonalds injury and the fact thjat we are playing away to a form side I unfortunately believe that will will lose today by a goal to nil. Naturally of course I do hope that I am proved wrong.
.
Probably the best scenario for today would be for the game to be called off.

There is no way that Mark Molesley or the player you call Moseley or Mosley would be the first choice, second choice or even third choice to replace MacDonald....so the decision to extend his loan at Plymouth is the correct decision in my mind. He was sent on loan to get playing time so why bring him back to watch games from the stand????? I am sure there is a clause that says he can be recalled from loan at any given time, should we have an injury crisis.
Have you been pulling your crackers early.....usually they have jokes inside, but it seems, typically yours have insults. Add this one to your list then.....if your brain was made of putty you wouldn't have enough to stop your windows blowing out.
Regards
PS Hope you get a spellchecker with your football annual on Tuesday!!!

Dont have short memorys wrote:Not a lot of Christmas spirit amongst some football supporters, it seems. Personally I like to see all the South Coast Clubs do well, except when they play us of course. I hope Portsmouth survive and prosper, that the Saints manage to stay up and Brighton continue to progress. All of the South Coast Clubs have been through very hard times in recent years and any one of us could have gone out of business. But we are all still here, so be thankful and enjoy supporting your Club - it is after all supposed to be the Season of Good Will to all Mankind, after all. A very Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone, regardless of the team they support.

I see some of you lot are infesting our site so just need to point out a couple of things. You are in div 3, we are in the Prem. You are being bankrolled by a Russian every week. You cannot sustain the level of wages you pay out on your income without yor sugar daddy. Remember the last south coast club to try this???? PFC, and look at where they are now. That's you lot when the Russian gets bored.
The more teams we have in the south the better, nothing like a good healthy rivalry, even better if we can have as many local teams in the same division, the championship next season would be fantastic if Afcb go up, scummers & Reading get relegated & with Brighton there too. You can't beat local derbies
Course, you only got three stands and around 5000 fans, you also got a mad chairman. So bit of advice, guys, keep a low profile, or yet again you will be the laughing stock of the lower league's.
