PIRATES team boss Neil Middleditch is backing captain Chris Holder to again lead from the front next season.

World champion Holder will skipper Poole Coastal Aluminium after being confirmed in their team for the 2013 campaign.

The Australian star was an inspirational performer last term and consistently delivered big points in the skull and crossbones.

Fans’ favourite Holder will be tasked with trying to go one better when Pirates attempt to regain the Elite League title they lost to Swindon.

And manager Middleditch expects the 25-year-old to again shine when he captains the Dorset club for the second successive year.

He told the Daily Echo: “Chris was a great captain last season.

“If any of the lower-order boys ever had a problem, I would have a word with them but always said to Chris to have a word with them as well. Coming from the captain and world champion, it always sounds a bit better!

“He was an excellent captain and I am sure he will continue in the same vein.”

Meanwhile, Pirates fans can see reigning king Holder in action at the European Grand Prix next year if they take the chance to join a trip to Bydgoszcz, run by Sea View Coaches.

Departing on Thursday, April 18 and returning on Monday, April 22, the cost is £299, which includes hotel accommodation for two nights. SGP tickets are not included but can be arranged.
