OLDFIELD OLD BOYS 15 WIMBORNE 28

WIMBORNE skipper Dave Huggins felt his side's lack of bulk up front was the deciding factor in their 28-15 reverse at Oldfield Old Boys.

The Leigh Park side were left frustrated to leave Bath empty-handed as the Old Boys drew level on points with them in Southern Counties South.

Huggins said: "We felt we played the better rugby but with our heaviest player at 15 stone, we need more bulk as they were very good at the maul."

Dave Stephens's try cancelled out an early score from the hosts, but a bad start to the second half put Oldfield in control and Dave Huggins's try proved only consolation.

Wimborne: Moore, Murphy, Lynch, Davis, Lennon, O'Bryan, Huggins, Hicks, Hymers, Wells, Chapman, Roberts, Beevers, Stephens, Lynch. Subs: Fry, Coulling, King.

ROB'S LATE TRY

ROB Padfield's injury-time try earned Ellingham and Ringwood a last-gasp 23-18 victory at US Portsmouth in Hampshire One.

James Noble's first-half score and Andy Weeks's boot kept E's in touch but they trailed 19-16 until Padfield crashed over two minutes into added time.

Coach Steve Anderson said: "We were by far the better side, but we struggled to make it count because we were giving away too many penalties."

Ellingham's 2nds downed Petersfield 19-14, while Vikki Dibden claimed all six tries in the ladies' 40-10 romp at Guildford.

EAST LEADS WAY

NORTH Dorset under-15s stormed past their Swanage and Wareham counterparts 55-0 in the first round of the County Cup.

Captain Toby East led the way with a 20-point haul to hand his side a tie with Dorchester in round two.

Scorers: East (two, plus five conversions), Matt Leach (two), Tom Dymond-Andrews, Tim Love, Nigel Everett, George Clayton and Harry Clarke.

Oakmeadians Ladies crashed to a heavy 40-0 defeat to a strong Havant side in Women's South West League.
