BULLISH boss Tom Killick believes Wimborne Town will finally see off their ‘Southern League strugglers’ tag. But he insisted none of the Magpies squad would make it into his Poole Town starting line-up.

Killick’s men go head to head with their Dorset rivals in a mouth-watering Red Insure Cup second round tie at Cuthbury tonight (7.45pm).

Magpies go into the clash boasting their best start to a season since they were promoted to Division One South & West in 2009-10.

The Cuthbury outfit ended their debut campaign third from bottom, before failing to better that finish last season.

But Steve Cuss’s side have made steady inroads in 2012 and currently reside in 10th place in the standings after five wins from 13 games.

Killick, whose side are third in the table following last season’s promotion near-miss, told the Echo: “I think Wimborne are better this season, but they couldn’t really do an awful lot worse than last year.

“I fully expected them to improve with the resources they have and there is no reason why they shouldn’t be in the top seven or eight.

“But there is nobody in the Wimborne squad that I would be looking to have at Poole.

“They have some good players, but there is nobody there that I think would improve my starting 11.”

Both Killick and Cuss have fully-fit squads to choose from, with Dolphins’ Warren Byerley looking to add to his recent exploits since his dual registration from Dorchester Town.

The former Hamworthy striker has netted twice in three games and should keep his place tonight.

Killick added: “It would be fair to say that I perhaps underestimated the quality that Warren has. I think he has really improved a lot from when I saw him play regularly at Hamworthy.

“It has surprised me a bit just how good he is.”

Cuss, meanwhile, insisted his charges were keen to progress in the competition.

He added: “The players are looking forward to this game. There will be a few of them out there who have played for both clubs.”
