MORE THAN ten thousand people descended on Littledown Park for the annual family fun day.

The event at the recreation centre covered all bases with indoor and outdoor activities, capping off a weekend of action which started on Saturday at the Pavilion.

Despite torrential rain on Saturday, the event in Bournemouth town centre was well attended.

The weather was in danger of impacting on the Littledown event, but the full line-up of events and activities went ahead.

Visitors were able to enjoy live music and performances on stage at the top of the field, including songs from Disney's Frozen stars Elsa and Ana .

There was also a range of trade stalls, circus games, demonstrations and fairground rides for children to use.

Inside the recreation centre there was gymnastic and martial art displays, a science dome and an inflatable disco.

After a busy weekend for event organisers BH Live, a spokesperson said: "Our family fun weekend at Bournemouth Pavilion and Littledown has once again been a huge success. Despite the rain on Saturday we had hundreds of visitors at the Pavilion enjoying storytelling sessions and activities.

"On Sunday though the glorious weather bathed Littledown Park in sunshine and we estimate that 11,000 people came along and had a smashing time trying out new activities and sports.

"We have had super feedback and are already planning next year’s events. A massive thank you to all who came along and supported us, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth who visited over both days."
