A WEEK of night closures are planned as the Spur Road rebuild moves into the next stage.

Phase three of the build will end in a fortnight, after which the road will be closed from 8pm to 6am for seven nights.

But planners say the remodel is "on programme".

A blog post that has appeared on the county council's website Dorsetforyou.com reads: "You’ll have noticed the concrete central barrier has started to be laid in-situ with the specialist slip-former machine and gang.

"We’re currently making between 140m and 200m of barrier a day, depending on conditions. This will carry on throughout phase four.

"To switch over to phase four we’ll need a week of night closures."

The road will be closed in both directions between Ashley Heath Roundabout and Cooper Dean Roundabout each night between Sunday, March 13 to Friday, March 18, reopening at 6am on Saturday, March 19.

The traffic management layout will be changed during the overnight closures, while a 'barrier guard' will be installed so the central barrier can be safely completed.
