MOTORISTS are being warned of delays while roadworks take place on one of Bournemouth's main roads.

Highway improvements are being carried on in Wimborne Road for five weeks at the junction with St Valerie Road.

Work to install new cycle facilities on the road started on Tuesday, May 2, with three-way temporary traffic lights controlling traffic at the junction.

There will also be three overnight closures between Cemetery Junction and Richmond Hill Roundabout while the road is resurfaced.

The closures start on Monday from 7pm.

During the night closures, bus services will be permitted through under escort, says the council.

On-street parking will be suspended during the surface treatment works. Drivers are asked to take extra care during this time when road markings are not in place.

Cycle improvement works will continue, provisionally from Monday, May 15, with a new lining scheme including cycle lanes and changes to parking.
