MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays as a series of roadworks begin across Bournemouth and Poole today.

Here are some of the major works taking place this week.

  • Upton Bypass: The A35 Upton bypass will be completely closed from 9pm tonight until 7am, April 11, with traffic diverted up the slip road and over the A350 before re-joining the dual carriageway.
  • Horseshoe Common shared space: 12 weeks of works start today to repair the road surface on the shared space. Traffic lights will be in place to control traffic on Old Christchurch Road.
  • Poole Lane, West Howe: roadworks between Nutley Way and Holloway Avenue, which will affect some bus services. The road will be closed between these two locations.
  • Herbert Avenue: Two sets of roadworks with temporary traffic will take place along this busy stretch this week. T Mobile will be installing a new mast outside The Quay School, with temporary traffic lights in place. And Borough of Poole will be putting in a new sewer connection, and will also be using temporary traffic lights for the duration of the work. Motorists have been told to expect delays.
  • Alder Road: there is planned patching work to the carriageway today and on Tuesday. Stop, Go boards will be used to control the traffic. This will be between Langside Avenue and the Sainsbury's roundabout.
  • Fernside Road: between the junctions of St Mary's Road and Parkstone Road there will be phased closures for relaying of gas mains and services. The first stage this week will be between St Mary's Road and Linthorpe Road.
