A FORTNIGHT of lane closures on the bridges spanning the A35 at Upton start from Sunday - with motorists warned things could get 'dusty' and 'noisy'.

The outside lane of the A350 Blandford Road bridges, which form the junction with the A35, will be closed for one week from April. Then, on April 10, this will move to an inside lane closure at the same junction.

The A35 Upton bypass will also also be be completely closed from 9pm, April 10, until 7am, April 11, with traffic diverted up the slip road and over the A350 before re-joining the dual carriageway.

Explaining the A350 lane closures, a Dorset County Council spokesman said: "This is so we can repair sections of the parapets where water ingress has caused damage.

"We'll be breaking off the damaged sections with a machine so there may be some dust in the area - and it will get noisy."

The Upton bypass works, which started in January, are expected to be finished by early May.
