THE pensioner who died while 'directing traffic' following a crash on the A35 has been named.

Graham Trevor Manning,71, from Poole, is believed to have stopped to help with a vehicle which had already crashed at the same location on the A35 when the incident happened near Burley at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, December 27.

He was then involved in a collision with a second car, which was a silver Mitsubishi Space Star. He died at the scene.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said that they had spoken to all relevant parties involved during the incident and were not looking for anyone else.

In a tribute to Mr Manning issued through Hampshire Police, his family said: "Graham was a kind, caring and generous man who will be sadly missed by family and many friends."

Officers diverted traffic off the A35 and onto the B3058 towards Bashley and New Milton while emergency services were on the scene.

An investigation by Hampshire Police was launched.
