AN elderly woman has died following a crash in Lymington.

The 85-year-old lady was driving a green Honda Jazz along Grove Road at around 9.25am on Monday when it hit a wall.

The woman died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

A passing ambulance came across the incident, which they reported to the control room before stopping to help.

In addition, a specialist paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, another ambulance and a Hampshire FRS Co-Responder from Lyndhurst.

The Thames Valley Air Ambulance attended the scene, which is launched to incidents which the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are unable to assist at. 

Two crews of fire fighters from New Milton worked to release the female driver of the vehicle.

Ambulance staff then took over the care of the elderly woman.
